Happiness is Calling!

I've just accepted a job in San Diego, land of bootie-free surfing and beach living. My period of unemployment and our time in NorCal will soon be coming to a close. I'll miss all of my cold-water surf buddies but am excited to begin a new chapter in our lives.

  1. Congratulations on the job! Check out "Pipes" in Encinitas, fun spot. I've been reading your blog since this summer and have really enjoyed your posts(I commented once regarding the "seagull cult" at Lindamar). Will miss seeing familiar spots described here. Are you going to continue the post when you are down in So.Cal?

    1. Thanks, Anon. I'll be sure to check out Pipes.

I'm not planning to continue regular posting after the move. After all, it's wave journal of a NORcal surfer girl.

  4. Hi, Cynthia! I've been trying to convince my sister to try surfing with you since she wanted to find a female surfing buddy up North, but now that you're moving down here to San Diego, maybe we can paddle out sometime! I don't surf much now that I have my two babies, but I go out every once in awhile (but motherhood has made me fearful now of anything head high or so). Pipes is fun but croooooowded as heck, and kinda scary, considering how many people are out there who aren't paying attention to what they (or other surfers) are doing. I tend to like the less crowded beach breaks, which makes North County San Diego so much fun since there's so much accessible coast to explore. If you're ever up for surfing in Encinitas, Carlsbad, and Oceanside, let me know! I have a favorite little beach break I tend to go to when I can since it's only a five minute drive away from home and rarely too crowded. Sure beats the good 'ol San Francisco drive I had to do back when I lived in the Bay. :)

    1. That would be awesome, Carmelyn! I'd love to surf with you in North County. Crowds aren't my thing as you can tell from my blog. Please email me at surfergrrrl at gmail and maybe we can meet up sometime next month (we're moving down after Christmas).
