Our beaches are never this gross.Last weekend I was thinking about how relatively clean the ocean beaches are on the Peninsula and in Santa Cruz. When I walk on the sand here, I don't have to pick a path through trash and keep an eye out for needles like I did when I lived on the L.A. coast. Not to say there's no trash here, and volunteers with Surfrider and other groups do a great job keeping it under control, but it's much less than this.
Although on the plus side, S did once find a $20 bill on Hermosa Beach.
